Twice-Exceptional Students and G/T Services


Often times, twice-exceptional learners are misdiagnosed or misidentified as a result of misconceptions held by the educational community regarding their needs and appropriate service options. The school community must be able to meet the unique needs of 2E learners and be able to respond to the myriad range of diverse exceptionalities and potentialities manifested by these learners. Inasmuch, it is vital that we look at the 2E learner as a whole. What are their cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs? How can we create a supportive environment that focuses and builds on their ability while addressing their disability?
