Out-of-School Options for
Twice-Exceptional Learners

The Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students requires that service options provided to gifted/talented students meet and reinforce their areas of strengths and interests. Moreover, it also requires that out-of-school options relevant to the students’ areas of strength are provided by the district whenever possible. (19 TAC §89.3 (3)). Therefore, it is important to provide multiple opportunities and choices to twice-exceptional learners that meet the requirements of the Plan and challenge twice-exceptional learners to excel. Out-of-school options could include, but are not limited to:
