Assessment instruments and G/T identification procedures provide students an opportunity to demonstrate their diverse talents and abilities. It is important for districts to consider alternative, nontraditional as well as traditional means of identifying G/T students.

The required minimums of three measures (K–12) are selected by the district G/T committee comprised of at least three G/T trained staff. Different measures find different students, therefore it is important to use a variety of measures.
